Whenever I reference this song, most people have no idea what I'm talking about. Then I play them a few bars and they're like, "Ohhhh, that song."

Orbital- The Box

I dug out a bunch of my 90s electronica music recently, including In Sides. It immediately transported me back to my bathroom-turned-darkroom, the place where I spent most of 1996.

DJ Shadow- Midnight in a Perfect World

Someone I know just saw DJ Shadow live. The same night in the same city? Portishead. Talk about Sophie's Choice, I'm not sure which show I would've gone to.

Adam and The Ants- Stand and Deliver

George Harrison- Got My Mind Set on You

I loved this video as a kid. My mom was really into the Beatles, so I knew their music, but it wasn't until later that I realized this was "the" George. The part where he dances reminds me of the Weapon of Choice video. (Except this one came first.) On a side note, I saw the Scorsese documentary on George Harrison recently. It was a nice tribute.

Bloc Party- Two More Years

I'm sticking with the "British bands that actually sound British" theme. I love Bloc Party, I think they're a very sincere band, if that makes any sense.

The Good Natured- Skeleton

I just heard this song and I'm kind of digging it. I love British groups that actually sound British.

The Specials- Ghost Town

London's been on my mind a lot lately. (I think that's where this is filmed...)

Doves- There Goes The Fear

I love that there's an MTV2 insignia in the corner- that's where I first saw this video.

Jason From LA- Dream of the 90s

It's only been a week and I'm already slacking. I'll post two videos today, the first one being a catchy little tune from the Portlandia folks. I know it's stretching the term "music video" a bit, but I really love it.

Interpol- C'mere

Interpol is my favorite band from the last decade. They might even be my favorite band of all time. That being said, their videos are surprisingly lackluster and uninspiring. I'd like to think it's because they're such an amazing live band and are so focused on their music that the videos are an after thought. I'm posting this anyway because I'm dreaming of wintertime and I like the paper flames at the end.

Haysi Fantayzee- Shiny Shiny

Ok, this isn't the "official" video for Shiny Shiny but it kind of intrigued me. I'm not really sure what it is, it's not quite a live performance- there are sets and cutaways of bunny rabbits.

Portishead- All Mine

Just like their unique sound, you can spot a Portishead video from a mile away. I really like the movement of the logo design at the end.

Howard Jones- What is Love

Later this fall my mom and I are attending the Epcot Center Food & Wine Festival and she told me Howard Jones was one of the performers at the park. I was so freaking excited until I found out he's performing the week before. Doh. Instead, I get to see Richard "Don't Mean Nothing" Marx.

Someday, Howard, someday.

Talking Heads- Sax and Violins

This video makes an appearance in one of my favorite movies, Until The End of the World. (I know it's the second reference I've made to this movie, and there will probably be more in the future.)

Junior Boys- Bits and Pieces

I dedicate this video to the drunk girl in front of me at last week's Junior Boys show who yelled, "Play Bits and Pieces". Jeremy Greenspan paused and said, "We already played that." Drunk girl promptly fell off her stool.

The Breeders- Cannonball

This video represents an important time in my life. Having grown up watching MTV I was exposed to a lot of interesting music (and of course terrible music as well. ) The Breeder's Cannonball was the first video I remember seeing and thinking, "I need more of this." Last Splash was the first album I purposely saved up for- not because it was popular, or because it was what my friends were listening to, but because I wanted something more. Walking out of that Sam Goody, I not only left behind my allowance, but my Top 40 childhood as well.

TV on the Radio- Will Do

I'm obsessed with this song right now. And the head gear reminds me of Wim Wender's Until The End of The World.
